The biscuit of the Piedmontese Tradition.
The biscuit PASTE DI MELIGA in Italian can be translated as Biscuit of Corn.
The discovery of new continents, between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age, also marks the introduction of new foods and culinary habits in the European continent; cereals, legumes and products from foreign countries will then become our traditional dishes! Among these stands the MAIS, a cereal that in European territory has quickly found a wide diffusion thanks to climate and mild temperatures. Today in Italy it is now a typical cereal with which it creates a flour that gives rise to a dish known all over the world, POLENTA.
And it is precisely this product that characterizes our Meliga Pasta:
A CLASSIC BISCUIT of tradition made even more 'RUSTIC thanks to the FLOUR FOR POLENTA stone-ground in our mill. The addition of Polenta inside our dough, together with Fumetto flour gives the biscuit an incredible fragrance and crunchiness while respecting the culinary traditions of Piedmont.
Light and with all the scent of coarse ground corn flour is ideal for breakfast or as a dessert at the end of a meal, perfect also accompanied by a cream of eggnog.
Ideal for the whole family.
